Summer, it's better together!
Col. 3:23 “And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”
A few summers ago, some guys and I went camping and climbing at Mineral Wells State Park together. We were all believers and were pretty serious about following Jesus. This said, we had no planned Bible Study on the agenda for the weekend. We were just excited to be together away from the norm of life.
What struck me was that in-spite of not having a rigid schedule for spiritual growth that weekend, the conversations kept coming back to Jesus. While we were sitting around the campfire, Jesus. While we were hiking, Jesus. When my buddy took a big fall climbing, Jesus!!!
So why share this story? Because during the summer months it is much harder to keep a normal schedule for spiritual growth for our small groups. Folks are on vacation, Great Adventure is underway, fireworks and backyard barbecues are an American must. Our schedules are a little more dynamic in the summer. This being true, our hope is that whatever your group ends up doing together this summer, be it at the lake, on the course or around a fire, that Jesus would be central. In the midst of all that we love about summer, He would be what we keep coming back to; together.
Summer, it’s better together.
