Romans 8:28- “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
The guy was in an extremely tight spot. Married with kids and a pregnant wife, he was concerned about having enough money for soap and gasoline. Things had been going pretty great at work for the last year and then over a series of months that all began to change quickly. Due to very poor circumstances the job went away, the money started to run out, and fear was back knocking on the door of his heart. Every opportunity to make ends meet felt just beyond grasp no matter how hard he tried…and he was definitely trying. In the middle of these circumstances, the guy looks at me and says “I believe God has a plan in all of this. I know God often likes to come through for his kids at just the last minute. I’ve seen him do it before.”
What a fantastic response to very tough life circumstances!
Would you and I respond the same way?!
Week after week, our benevolence ministry seeks to support folks from our church family and community who are having an incredibly hard time making ends meet. Often this means paying a light bill or helping with some groceries. Other times it means saying “we can’t help this time.”
The whole goal of the Benevolence ministry is to partner with God in serving those who have experienced such things as a loss of a job, high medical bills, or unfortunate life circumstances.
On November 19th at 5:30, we will be doing our once a year fundraising dinner, Thanksgiving Back! This one fundraiser sets the budget for the Benevolence ministry for the year. In other words, what is given at this fun, church family event, largely determines the number of people that we can help throughout the year.
Please consider coming to this event and giving generously so that we can be a part of God’s plan in the lives of hurting and struggling folks around us.
