Falling Through the Cracks
“Pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.”
They kept me from falling through the cracks…
When I was a junior in high school, I was at a place in life where my risk of not graduating was extremely high. My dad told me on a daily basis, “just graduate!” At one point in my academic career, the only thing giving me any hope of attending college in the future were the mentors/tutors from my church and school who graciously picked me up. It was their God-inspired selfless investment in me that kept me from falling through the cracks.
As I write this today, there are kids all across our city who are falling through the cracks. Unlike me, they are not surrounded by a community of people who are committed to their success and flourishing. If they fall, it is up to them to get back up on their own.
This is why our church is so committed to partnering with PFISD schools through the ministry of Mentoring. Our goal is to take a loving community of mentors to these kids and strengthen their chances of making it. If you’d like to be a part of keeping great kids from falling through the cracks, please pray about mentoring a student over one lunch hour during the school year. You really can change a life!
